Hypnotherapy by phone

What can you expect from a telephone session with me?
Since the session time is reasonably short compared with a face to face session, it's important that you give me as much information as possible on the Intake form, before we talk on the phone.
During the session I encourage you to think and talk the issues which are important in relation to the issue you want to change.
What does it feel like?
Hypnotherapy feels like being extremely relaxed. You will be aware of my voice and most of what I say. However you may find your thoughts wander when you are in this relaxed state, and that is fine. Your sub-conscious mind will be aware of what I say and the suggestions I make in relation to your challenge.
Can this be done on the telephone?
As soon as you start to go into a hypnotic trance your eyes are closed and you just hear the therapist's voice. So this is the same on the telephone. For most things such as giving up smoking, anxiety, wanting more confidence, improving self-esteem, weight loss, letting go of fears, sessions on the telephone work very well.
For age regression and past life regression it would be preferable to visit a Hypnotherapist in person.
Do you need any special equipment to have hypnotherapy by phone?
The main requirements are that you need to be in a quiet environment. You also must have some sort of hands free telephone, so you can hear me without having to hold the phone.
Some clients use their mobile 'hands free' ear piece. Others have a hands free button on their phone. Some prop the hand set of the phone beside their head.
Ideally you should sit in a comfortable chair which supports your head and back. Alternatively you could lie on a bed or settee. There is a slightly greater chance that you may fall asleep if you are lying down though!
What does a Hypnotherapist do?
Discuss what it is that you want to change. Hypnotherapy is an adjunct to help your motivation and will power.
You need to be willing to make changes yourself. The hypnosis itself consists of inducing a state of deep relaxation. This may be done by bringing your attention to the various parts of your body and asking you to relax the muscles as you breathe out. After this will follow a guided visualisation taking you on a journey to a beautiful place in your imagination. When you are in this very relaxed state there will be suggestions made to you in relation to the thing you want to change.
Then you will be brought back to full conscious awareness. You will be aware of your surroundings, will not be asleep so if there is an emergence you can wake up by opening your eyes.
However usually you will be brought back to full awareness by hearing me counting from one to ten.
Hypnotherapy session has three parts:
1.Before the hypnosis when you talk about, and establishing what and how you want to change. Some NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) techniques may be used at this stage.
2. The hypnotherapy itself session itself, as described above, consisting of induction, deepener and the therapy
3. After the hypnotherapy, and until the next session: you think about what we talked about and notice how it impacts on your life; and take the actions you committed to.
How many telephone hypnotherapy sessions are you likely to need?
This varies from person to person. Some people find that just one or two sessions are all they need to make shifts in their thinking or devise a workable strategy to make the changes they want. Others find that regular contact every two to three months is useful to kept the motivation and recognise the progress which is being made.
Some people, find it useful to have an on-going hypnotherapeutic relationship over a longer period of time.
